I want to try modelling and keep coming across diesel modelling agency in my research. Does anyone know them and if they're any good for a newbie to the industry?
I've heard of them. They seem to be a good starting point for newbie's such as yourself, but I don't know much more than that. Have you checked out their website?
I've seen a lot of stuff on diesel models London if that's who you mean? From what I've seen I'm seriously tempted to try out with them, it seems like exactly what I need to get started- I'm still not totally sure if I want to do modelling professionally, but maybe a sideline? I'm hoping going to a shoot like the ones they offer would help me make up my mind! If you go, please post again and let us know what you think!
Hey there! I've had experience with Diesel models as I went there with my niece not so long ago. She was like you, wanting to try it out and my sister and I managed to convince her Dad to pay for a proper shoot for her. Basically they take you through the process of a professional shoot, with a pro make-up artist, photographer and everything you would expect and then offer you the chance to buy a portfolio, which we did as there were some amazing photos in there! They also gave us all the contacts we needed with legit agencies and we have been approaching them with her Diesel portfolio and getting such great feedback! We thought they were excellent and you should really consider them if you're going to go further with your career.
Just thought I should point out that there is no such thing as diesel modeling agency though – they are not a modeling agency, they are infact a place to help get you started before approaching an agency. They can still help you, but you need to know the difference.
Would have been helpful to say what the difference was no?
…yes it would, even more helpful if you'd thought to explain too ah?? A company like Diesel don't find you work. What they do do is help you create a portfolio that will show you off to the best of your potential and then hook you up with contacts at the legit agencies. They also give you that experience in front of the camera professionally which gives you an idea of what will be expected of you. I would assume this is a great help to anyone wanting to do this professionally?
I had a great time with diesel when I went down to their studio in London last year. They are a company that help you get some experience in a studio setting and also produce a portfolio for you to take to the agencies, all of which they have private contact details for. They are specifically targeting newbie's to the industry so would be perfect for you and I would at least send them your pic hun and see what they think. You do that via their website and someone will get back to you and talk to you honestly about your chances. I now do modeling part-time around my studies, but even now my portfolio is the one I had done with diesel. They really gave me the confidence to go for it and I have no doubt they could do the same for you …give them a go! Sending your pic is free and all they need is an email address.
Diesel modeling? I work down the road from one of their studios off Oxford Circus and there always seems to be a steady flow of happy clients coming in and out of there. Seems to be a friendly atmosphere and I would assume that is exactly what you need if you are trying this for the first time. They have a couple of studios in the area I think and they certainly look the part. You wouldn't be the first ‘newbie' to start out there. The staff are quite nice too.
The last one of these threads I saw was asking ‘is diesel models a scam' – I'd like to know what those of you who have been there think of that?
It's rubbish!
Haha!
Well it is! They are a business and therefore are not doing this for free sure, but considering what you get from them in return it's not exactly breaking the bank either! They're great fun but very professional and they can genuinely help you start your career- if nothing else the pictures I've seen from them have been fab and of such good quality it's worth giving them a shot.
Ha! Conspiracy theories?! Love it! Someone call Mulder and Scully!!
Lmao this site just gets stranger! In reply to the original question, Diesel Models is a company specialising in giving first opportunities and building portfolios for models wishing to break into the industry. A few of my friends started out with them, one of which is becoming very successful right now and she certainly didn't have the confidence before she went and saw just how good she was- mad head stick thin blonde, naturally! I have heard one bad review of them, but considering who the source was, I'm surprised they didn't just throw her out anyway!! I would have!
